103 - Namdalen - a gem in Langfjorddalen

At the time when traffic into the Pasvik valley went by water, a few settlers came to this beautiful place.
Namdalen never had a road connection to the outside world, and has therfore been a ghost settlement for many, many years.

There is a marked hiking trail between Langvasseid and Strand, which goes through Namdalen.

A number of small farms are abandoned in this area.

The soil around the settlement is very fertile. The flowers reaches heights well above the head of a grown man.

You will find a memorial plaque in honor of the first female settler in the country, raised at the Namdal farm - the land she once bought. There is also an information board telling you about her and the history of her farm.

Duration: The hike will take between 3 to 5 hours, depending on your speed and how many brakes you take along the way. In addition you will need time for meals and coffiee breaks.

This hike is without a guide. There is enough information along the way for you to easely manage.

We will pick you up from your hotel or cabin, take you to the start of the trail and be there to pick you up when you finish.
